”The Heat” is the second single from Ida Gard’s upcoming third album ”Womb” set to come out on February 19th.
The song is an up-tempo, aggressive tune with no-nonsense drums, a gritty bass riff and the stickiest chorus describing ”the heat” as an equally dangerous and alluring power.

”For me, personally, the ”heat” in the song could be that drive that keeps me moving forward as an artist. Just like a fire that keeps you warm when you’re near it but will consume you if you get too close. It could also be a metaphor for those highly explosive emotions like anger and aggression that are necessary but not necessarily welcomed by those in the line of fire.”

There’s also a much more tangible story behind ”The Heat”. Like the rest of the album this song is inspired by the novel ”Popular Music From Vittula” and in particular a cockfight scene that takes place in a sauna. Just like the title track and first single from the album this song is written from a male perspective and thus adds a layer of gender issues and what our ideas of acceptable behavior of the two sexes are.

The video for ”The Heat” is produced by the multifaceted artist-duo Apperaat who is a returning collaborator for Ida. She explains:
”For the video we were inspired by the Creation story but chose to turn it upside down when casting Adam, Eve and the snake. We wanted to create a brutal and uncomfortable vibe and ended up shooting the video at a pig farm and combining images of one-day-old piglets with sizzling frankfurters. And of course top things off with with speedy swing dancers!”
